Trojans Pull Up Conference Win
BOURBON – It hasn’t been a banner start to the Triton girls basketball season, but the Hoosier North Athletic Conference season opened well for the Trojans. Welcoming in LaVille, Triton figured out a win in a 35-30 final Wednesday night at the Trench.
Triton welcomed back Hannah Wanemacher with open arms after missing two weeks with illness. Wanemacher made an immediate impact, scoring 16 points but also playing over 24 minutes for a Triton team that has been riddled with injury and illness the first month of the season. Wanemacher was 6-11 from the floor including three threes, and added five rebounds.
Jaela Meister and Charlotte Morris each had six points but combined for 19 rebounds, nine of them offensive. Triton had 14 offensive rebounds overall which translated into 13 points.
Nina Sajdak and Aryn Eash led LaVille with six points each.
Triton, which has been sluggish out of the gate in several of its games, erupted with a 13-3 lead in the first quarter and spread out a 24-7 lead at the half.
Triton improves to 2-7 on the season and will host Knox this Saturday.
