BOURBON – Points were hard to come by for two of Marshall County’s finer boys basketball programs. Plymouth used a hot start to buoy what was otherwise a balanced night to beat Triton, 40-36, Tuesday night.

The visiting Pilgrims used a 13-3 lead from the opening tip to build what would be a needed cushion. Triton would then counter with a 9-2 run to push the score to 15-12. The Trojans, however, couldn’t catch Plymouth as the Pilgrims never trailed in the contest.

Both defenses were sharp as usual, with Plymouth holding Triton to just 34 percent shooting (12-35) from the floor while Plymouth wasn’t much better at 40 percent (14-35) from the floor.

Cam Eveland led Plymouth and all scorers with 14 points and added six rebounds, a block, steal and hit all three of his three-point shots. Josh Anders added 10 points and Nick Felke chipped in seven points and four boards for Plymouth.

Triton had Jordan Anderson pace the club with 13 points, four boards and three assists. Masen Yeo, who scored 29 points Friday night, was held to just six points on four shot attempts. Grant Johnson had six points and nine boards.

Plymouth started hot and finished hotter in the JV game, winning 42-17. Plymouth led 9-2 after the first quarter and finished the game on a 15-1 run. Nathan Patterson finished with 12 points, 11 boards and six blocks while Cam Dennis scored 13 points for Plymouth. Drew Stichter had four points for Triton.

Class 1-A No. 5 Triton (2-1) will take on another Northern Lakes Conference foe Friday when it hosts Class 3-A No. 3 NorthWood. Plymouth (3-0) will host Rochester Friday night.
