Valley Splits At NorthWood

NAPPANEE – The NorthWood girls and the Tippecanoe Valley boys swim teams grabbed victories Monday night in action at NorthWood. The Panther girls won 92-50 and the Viking boys slipped by 90-80.

In the boys meet, Valley claimed seven of the meet, including two of the three relays, to build its ten-point edge. Chase Brower and Tyler Ross both were winners in four events to lead Tippecanoe Valley. Brower took the 200 freestyle (2:12.09) and the backstroke (1:10.07) while Ross was tops in the 100 freestyle (58.12) and the 50 freestyle (24.58). The two joined Daniel Alexander and Dakota Prater to win the medley relay (2:01.43) and the 200 free relay (1:46.62).

Alexander gave the Vikings its other win in the butterfly with a 1:06.84 winner.

NorthWood had Nathan Nunemaker win both the 500 free (5:34.22) and the breaststroke (1:11.84) and Drew Flickinger take the individual medley at 2:27.73. Flickinger, Nunemaker, Logan Berger and Jason McNeil won the 400 free relay at 4:04.76. Teagan Stutsman of NorthWood bested Valley’s Travis Shull in diving 192.75-121.05.

Kate Jarvis and Megan Stankovich helped pace NorthWood to a comfortable win.

Jarvis won the 200 free (2:09.48) and the butterfly (1:08.01) and Stankovich had the 500 free (6:24.64) while the two teamed in the medley relay with Mackenzie Weaver and Paige Barrett (2:10.44) and the quartet also won the 400 free relay (4:26.31).

Morgan Stickley won the 50 free (33.50) and Betsy Nunemaker led the divers with a 163.10. Both teamed with Carlee Hostetler and Kennedy Brinkhoff to give the Panthers a 2:15.31 win in the 200 free relay.

Valley had the duo of Lea Stouder and Kinzie Prater each win a pair of individual events.

Stouder claimed the individual medley (2:46.48) and the breaststroke (1:25.97) while Prater took the backstroke (1:11.97) and the 100 free (1:04.51).

NorthWood hosts Warsaw Thursday in a Northern Lakes Conference dual while Valley will host Wabash Thursday in a Three Rivers Conference dual.
