Melvin L. Hughes, 90, Warsaw, died at 7:13 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.
He was born March 10, 1925, in Marshall County, to George and Esther (Ballinger) Hughes, and lived most of his life in Warsaw. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He married Bonnie Lou Scott, on Oct. 24, 1999, in Warsaw. He was a driver for Glen’s Wrecker Service.
Melvin was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Warsaw.
He is survived by five sons: Douglas (Rhonda) Hughes, Warsaw; Robert Hughes, Danville; Rodney (Tammie) Hughes, Mentone; Terry (Julia) Hughes, Tippecanoe; and Lee Hughes, Phoenix; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother: Edward (Nesta) Hughes, Auburn; sister: Lilly Wright, North Webster. He is preceded in death by wife: Bonnie Lou Hughes, on July 21, 2003; two sons: Melvin Hughes Jr.; Michael Hughes; one daughter: Dawn Weber; two brothers: Richard Hughes; Jerry Hughes; sister: Betty Hines.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Titus Funeral Home. The service will be at noon Wednesday, also at Titus Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Dan Cox, of the United Pentecostal Church, Warsaw. Graveside honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49, and VFW Post #1126. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
