NORTH WEBSTER — Enjoy an evening of laughs and good clean fun when the North Webster Community Public Library hosts Main on Main Comedy Improv Troupe at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4. The event will take place in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall.
Comedy improv is a form of live theater in which the characters, plot, and dialog are made up as they go along, often taking cues and suggestions from the audience. Main on Main is a local group comprised of Todd Lucas, Ian Crighton, Beth Smith, Nathan Hasse, Taylor White, Dustin Wolfe, and Stephen Leininger. They are the 2014 winners and 2015 runner-ups of the Comedy Criminals Festival hosted by the Elkhart Civic Theater. Come and see their comedy act for a night of hilarious entertainment.
The Youth Service Department will host its own kind of fun with a new program for infants and toddlers. Parents can experience the fun of books and stories with their infants, age birth through 18 months, during Lapsit at 11 a.m. Fridays, Dec. 4, 11, and 18. Youth Librarian Pam Long will lead parents and infants in looking at board books, singing songs with hand motions and engaging in meaningful play. She will also share resources for early literacy development. Then at 11:30 a.m. on the same days, Toddler Time provides the opportunity for parents and their toddlers, ages 19 to 36 months, to enjoy stories, finger plays, and movement that promotes language and literacy development. Pre-registration is required for both Lapsit and Toddler Time. Class size will be limited, so parents are encouraged to sign up early at the Youth Service Desk or by calling (574) 834-7122 ext. 202 to reserve their spot.
Pre-registration is also needed for the Make and Take Card Class at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3. Hope Beezley will teach adults how to create their own greeting cards. With the holiday season upon us, it is the perfect time to learn how to make your own personalized Christmas cards. The class costs $7 and includes all materials and supplies. To sign up, stop by the Circulation Desk or call (574) 834-7122.
As the weather turns cold, now is the time to cozy up with a good book. If you are at a loss to know what to read, the library staff can help you with the personalized reader advisory service called “Your Next Three Books.” Simply stop by the Circulation Desk and fill out a short questionnaire indicating the types of books you like to read. The library staff will then select books for you based on your tastes and preferences. When you return the books, there will be three more books waiting for you that we think you will enjoy. This free personalized service is also a time saving convenience for busy patrons who may not have the time to browse and search for books. It is also a great way to discover books and authors you may not have found on your own. Sign up and start enjoying “Your Next Three Books” right away.
