SOUTH BEND – Triton opened its 2015 wrestling campaign with three wins as well as individual success at Saturday’s South Bend Clay Duals.

The Trojans were 3-2 in team competition, beating Hammond Gavit 43-36, Rochester 42-30 and Westview 70-12. South Bend Clay edged Triton 38-36 and Garrett won 55-18 over Triton.

Weight class champions for Triton were Bryce Swihart at 113, Adonic Salinas at 126 and Gage Waddle at 170. Swihart and Waddle were both 5-0 and Salinas was 4-1.

Malachi Greene and James Snyder were also 4-1 while John Salinas, Nick Harker, Ryan Horne, Lee Mullet and Cameron Scarberry were all 3-2. Billy Smith and Miles Ortiz both claimed two wins and Christian Gentry had one win.

Triton returns to the competition mat Tuesday in its home opener against Tippecanoe Valley.
