MILFORD — Updates, events and news from the Milford Public Library.
Closed for Thanksgiving
The library will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, in observance of Thanksgiving Day. We apologize for any inconvenience this creates. Enjoy the holiday with family and friends. If you need to return any items that day, there are drop boxes located on the south end of our building. We will reopen 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27.
Nutrition Program
Join us for another great nutrition program. On Monday, Nov. 30, Sue Price will present a program called Recipes that “Squash” Hunger. Come learn delicious and healthy cooking tips for using various kinds of squash, including acorn, butternut, spaghetti and pumpkin. The program will be in the Milford Public Library meeting room from 6:30-7:30 p.m. We will have a sign up at the adult circulation desk beginning Monday, Nov. 16. Come discover some new and nutritious recipes. Door prizes will be given away at the end of the program.
Thanksgiving Reads
This is the time of year most people reflect on what they are thankful for. Most people are thankful for loved ones, good health, their jobs, and their homes. Here at the library we are thankful for our community and a wonderful library board. Many of us will gather with our families and enjoy a feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. Many others will be out serving Thanksgiving meals to those who are unable to provide them. Wherever you are this Thanksgiving, we hope you are safe and warm and full of turkey. Here at the library, we have a multitude of books with Thanksgiving traditions, recipes, and holiday celebrations.
Before the Thanksgiving holiday hits, why not stop by and check out the following books and movies for the kids.
“Mousekin’s Thanksgiving” by Edna Miller, “Thanksgiving Day Crafts” by Arlene Erlbach, “Thanksgiving Then and Now” by Jessica Gunderson, “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” (DVD). “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” (DVD), “Pieces of April” (DVD), “Thanksgiving Poems” by Myra Cohn Livingston, “Thanksgiving Graces” by Mark Moulton, “Thanksgiving Origami” by Ruth Owen, and “The First Thanksgiving” by Linda Hayward.
