MILFORD — Information on Milford Public Library news and upcoming events are as follows:

Lights Out at the Library

This year’s theme, “Have a Graphic Novel Halloween!” was a huge hit with the trick-or-treaters. Rainy weather did not keep people from coming out and having fun. There were 468 people that took the tour through the library to see some of their favorite comic book and graphic novel characters come to life. That was a new attendance record.

Superman, Wonder Woman, Squish, Spiderman, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Wolverine, the Lunch Lady, Captain America and Ironman all made an appearance. There were 22 people involved in making the program happen, some of them library staff, but most were volunteers. Thank you to all the people who helped make the program such a success! Thanks to everyone who donated candy bars.

Fall Preschool

Join staff for the last fall story time at 10:15 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, or 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, as we talk about Thanksgiving and enjoy a Thanksgiving feast. Listen as staff reads “Turkey Trouble” by Wendi Silvano and “Thanks for Thanksgiving” by Julie Markes. After we listen to stories, we will get to make a turkey craft with foam and leaves. When we have finished our turkeys, we will sit down and enjoy a Thanksgiving feast of turkey treats. Feel free to bring a snack (crackers, pretzels or grapes, for example) to share with the group. See you for Thanksgiving fun.

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library will have a Book and Bake Sale Nov. 20 and Nov. 21 in the library meeting room. Come by from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, to check out the books for sale as well as browsing the baked goods table. The

Friends will also be set up at the holiday bazaar at Milford School from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, with books and baked goods. All money will go back to support the library and its programs. Come support the library by buying books and baked goods.

The Friends are also collecting any 2016 calendars and notepads that you may have received in the mail and do not need. They are collecting them to give to people who do not get calendars or need a notepad. There are donation boxes in the children’s department and at the adult circulation desk.

Afternoon Knitting Club

The knitting club meets from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, in the teen area of the library. Bring a knitting project and get help from experienced knitters. Learn how to knit or continue working on a current project.

Closed for Thanksgiving

The library will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26, in observance of Thanksgiving. We apologize for any inconvenience this creates. Enjoy the holiday with family and friends. If you need to return any items that day, there are drop boxes located on the south end of our building. We will reopen at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27.
