North Miami Brings LCA Back To Earth
WINONA LAKE – After a pair of solid wins to begin the season, North Miami spoiled LCA’s high Saturday night. Jumping out to a big first-half lead, the Warriors crushed the Cougars 71-32 in girls hoops.
North Miami built a nine-point cushion after the first quarter only to spread the lead to 16 at the half, leading 35-19. The third quarter was decisive as the Warriors outscored the Cougars 24-5 out of the lockerroom, putting the game out of reach.
The matchup was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
Melissa Goss had a career night of sorts, scoring 22 points and adding six rebounds in what was a personal scoring mark for the LCA guard. Goss, however, committed 14 turnovers, part of a paltry 33 giveaways LCA had on the night.
Rachel Sand was held to seven points and two rebounds and Carissa Urschalitz was bound to just two points and four boards. The two had combined for 25 points and 13 rebounds Friday night in a big win against South Bend Career Academy.
LCA (2-1) will host Churubusco Tuesday evening.
