Tippy Valley SportsAKRON – Tippecanoe Valley built and early lead and kept it Tuesday night, beating Culver Academy 57-42 in girls hoops.

Valley doubled up CGA 18-9 in the first quarter and only lengthened its lead to 33-15 at the half.

Eight players got into the scoring act for Valley, led by the 24 points and 12 rebounds from Anne Secrest. Hannah Dunn had a strong game with 10 points and five rebounds while Sophie Bussard tossed in seven points, seven rebounds and three assists. Brynda Krueger had seven rebounds and two steals.

Tippecanoe Valley, ranked No. 6 in the latest Class 3-A poll, moves to 2-0 on the season and will next play Nov. 20 in a home tilt with Warsaw. Culver Academy (0-2) will play Thursday at Rochester.
