William F. ‘Bill’ Charlton

William F. “Bill” CharltonWilliam F. “Bill” Charlton, 81, of North Webster, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at his home. He was born on July 3, 1934, in Millersburg, to Gerald W. and Agatha Mae (Orn) Charlton.

He graduated in 1952 from Milford High School, attended International Business College in Fort Wayne and was a United States Army veteran. He was married on Nov. 27, 1954, in Larwill, to Marlene D. Rush who preceded him in 1995 and on Oct. 12, 1996, in Syracuse, to Alice M. (Stump) Moerchen who survives.

He retired from United Tech in Columbia City after over 20 years and formerly worked at Weatherhead/Dana Corporation in Syracuse for 24 years. He lived most of his life in the Milford, North Webster and Syracuse areas, except for two years he spent in Chicago.

He was a member of the Church of God in North Webster, Lakeland Kiwanis in North Webster and formerly attended the Church of Nazarene in Syracuse.

He is survived by his wife: Alice Charlton, North Webster; daughter: Deanna (Todd) Koble, Syracuse; two sons: Douglas (Rita) Charlton of Tucson, AZ and Steve (Shelia) Charlton, Syracuse; four stepdaughters: Stephanie (Brian) Scott, Warsaw; Sara (Kermit) Kropf, Syracuse; Leah Glassburn, Fort Wayne; Amanda (Nathan) Swanson, Park City, Utah; three stepsons: Greg (Missy) Moerchen, Fort Wayne; Todd (Lisa) Moerchen, Oldsmar, Fla.; and Jeffrey Moerchen, New York City, N.Y.; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; two sisters: Geraldine Chupp and Dorothy Elliott; and brother: Warren Charlton.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Boyer of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Milford Cemetery.
