Warsaw American Legion Hosting Veterans Day Event

WARSAW — Warsaw American Legion Post 49 will host its annual Veterans Day Program starting at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Center Lake Pavilion.

The program will begin with music by the Warsaw Community High School Choir followed by an Armed Forces Medley at 10:40 a.m. Veterans will be asked to stand when his branch’s anthem is played during the medley followed by an honor guard.

The ceremony will begin at 10:55 a.m. with the tolling of the bells and a welcome from Dick Dobbins, American Legion Post Commander. Russ Bauer will be the guest speaker.

The event will include the American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126 reading of names of those who have passed away in the organizations over the last year. John Sadler will give the “Order of Kosciuszko Award,” an award which honors a veteran within the community.

The event will conclude with a 21-gun salute and taps. Chaplain Roy C. Blake will give the benediction.

A free lunch to all Legionaires will be held following the ceremony, from 12:15-3 p.m. at the American Legion Post.
