NORTH WEBSTER — The second program of the North Webster Community Public Library’s two part Military Series will be 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19. Come and hear the personal account of Marine Veteran John Gabbard who served his country in Iraq and Afghanistan. The program is free and open to the public.
In other library events, Writer’s Corner meets 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, to share essays each has written about their favorite pets. It should be an interesting, funny, touching, and perhaps even sad, discussion of what each has written about their pets. In Writer’s Corner, we never critique spelling or grammar, just how to express ideas in writing. If you like to write, or want to improve your writing skills, join us for Writer’s Corner the third Monday each month.
Later that day at 5:30 p.m.,Read, Eat And Discuss Book Club meets to enjoy refreshments and discuss the book “One Summer” by David Baldacci, a moving family drama about learning to love again after heartache and loss. Next month, the group will be reading and discussing the historical novel “1000 White Women: The Journals of May Dodd” by Jim Fergus. This is an 1875 fictional account of a colorful assembly of pioneer women who intermarry among the Cheyenne Indians. Be sure to stop by the library to pick up a copy and join next month’s discussion on Dec. 21.
Take a culinary tour of Italy at Revolving Recipe Round-Up at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17. Everyone is asked to prepare and bring an Italian dish to share. We will be sampling each other’s dishes and trading recipes while enjoying good food and fellowship. The library provides the table service along with free coffee and bottled water.
Please note there will be no crafts and stories in the youth department on Tuesday, Nov. 17, since some staff members will be attending the Indiana Library Federation Annual Conference where they will learn how to make our library even better. Crafts and stories will resume the following week.
