Jimmie ‘Jim’ George Warner
Jimmie “Jim” George Warner, 90, of Columbia City, passed from this life in comfort and peace on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015 with his family by his side.
He was born on June 9, 1925 in the home of his grandmother in Kosciusko County to Delbert R. and Jessie (Reed) Warner. Jim attended Sidney High School and married Bonnie Alice Sailor on Nov. 1, 1946. Jim served his country from 1943 to 1945 in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a longtime resident of Columbia City where he worked at Farmers Grain & Feed and the Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne. After retiring in 1987, Jim and Bonnie enjoyed the golden years by spending their winter months in Texas, traveling during the summer months to Alaska, Canada, and Nova Scotia. They enjoyed camping, square dancing and spending time with family and friends.
Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandpa. His love for fishing, Indiana Basketball and Colts Football was only surpassed by the love he had for his family. At the time of his passing, Jim was surrounded by his wife and 3 children and left this life in a peaceful transition. His memory will live on as he will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
Surviving are his wife: Bonnie Alice Warner; three children: JoAnn Branning, Columbia City; Debra (Thom) Frantz, Terre Haute; and Dennis (Lori) Warner, Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren: Angela (Bill) Kendall, Columbia City; Amy (Ben) Shelton, Fort Wayne; Heidi Branning, Columbia City; Jessica (Zach) Matuska, Fort Wayne; Amanda (Jarrod) Enyeart, Huntington; Adam Frantz, Terre Haute; Mark Frantz, Wabash; and Brian Warner, Indianapolis; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings: Bonnie Ross, South Whitley; Rosalie (Richard) Hossler, Fort Wayne; and Sue (Lionel) Ussery, Swayzee.
He was preceded in death by a sister: June Arnold; and a brother: Ben Warner.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in the South Whitley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the funeral home.
