Charles Ellsworth Sumey, 86, Culver, died at 7:22 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on June 8, 1929, in Union Town, Pa., to Thomas and Rebecca Sumey. He has lived in Indiana since 1964, coming from Pennsylvania. On Jan. 29, 1951, in Pennsylvania, he married Mammie Evelyn Elizabeth (Mills) Sumey. She preceded him in 1993.

Charles worked for U.S. Granules in Plymouth, where he retired in 1994.

He is survived by his daughters: Betty L. O’Connor, Plymouth; Cindy Sumey, Plymouth; sons: Charles L. Sumey, Plymouth; Roger L. (June) Sumey, Logansport; three grandchildren: Louise Larson, Texas; Windy Lauderback, Plymouth; Randy Zehner, Georgia.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos. Memorial Services will follow the visitation at 5 p.m. Nov. 8, at the funeral home with Rev. Bruce of the Fulton Baptist Church. Burial will take place at the New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, at a later date.
