Carol Louise Sittler, 81, Terre Haute, formerly of Evanston, Ill., passed away at 9:05 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at Harrison Crossing Health Campus, Terre Haute.

She was born Dec. 18, 1933, in Warsaw to Ross W. Sittler and Dawn (Jones) Sittler.

Carol was a graduate of Warsaw High School, then she received her bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and her master’s degree from The Ohio State University. While at Purdue, she was a member and, for one year president, of Phi Mu Sorority. She was employed as a dorm director for four years at Texas Tech.

Carol had lived most of her adult life in Evanston, Ill. She was a clinical psychologist and supervisor at Jewish Vocational Service, Chicago, for 36 years and retired in 1998.

For several years she served on the board of directors for Services for Adults Staying in Their Homes in Evanston. Carol loved the game of bridge and was involved in several bridge groups in the Evanston area. She also traveled extensively with family and friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces: Jo Phillips and Connie (Newman) Atkinson, both of Terre Haute; nephew, David (Christy) Sittler, Fort Wayne; great-nephews: Josh Sittler, Terre Haute, Joe Sittler, Fort Wayne, and Benjamin and Joey Atkinson, Terre Haute. Also surviving are her great-great nephews: Jaxon Reese and Gage Sittler, Terre Haute; and great-great nieces: Grace Sittler, Connecticut and Adie Sittler, Terre Haute.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, J. Marilyn Phillips and her husband, Darrell Phillips; her brother, Robert and his wife, Martha Sittler; and her niece, Elaine Sittler Rosella.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw. Her funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Linda Craig.

A committal service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
