NAPPANEE – The NorthWood girls basketball team opened its season by rolling past South Bend Riley 62-26 Thursday night.

The host Panthers led 14-6 after the opening quarter and 30-10 by halftime of the easy win.

Taitlyn Trenshaw tossed in a game-high 20 points to lead the way for coach Adam Yoder’s squad.

McKayla Fielstra added 11 points for the Panthers in the victory.

NorthWood (1-0) plays at Penn Saturday with the JV game at noon. Riley (0-1)  hosts Washington Township tonight.
