MENTONE — Turnout has been slightly higher than expected so far at the polls in Mentone. As of 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 3, 75 of 582 voters had shown up at the Mentone town hall, 201 West Main St., to cast their ballots.

Two precincts are voting in Mentone, including Franklin Township (precinct one) and Harrison Township (precinct two).

According to poll worker Ed Rock, this turnout is “much brisker than we anticipated.”

Poll workers wait patiently as constituents trickle in to take their part in selecting who will serve on the town council for the coming term. Incumbents are Tim Croy, Shelly Krueger and Jill Gross, with Barb Ross up for re-election as clerk-treasurer.

One challenger, Bobby Asher, is also in the running.

Because this is a town council election, voting is open to residents from within Mentone’s town limits. There is still time to vote, as polls will remain open until 6 p.m.
