The second week of the IHSAA state tournament series for high school football teams arrives Friday night.

There will be plenty of area teams in action on area prep gridirons as sectional play continues.

The big one in the IFN coverage area takes place at Whitko as the Wildcats welcome in fellow Whitley County foe Churubusco for a Class 2-A sectional semifinal contest. The pair of schools have played just twice, with the last meeting coming 40 years ago.

A handful of Northern Lakes Conference teams in NorthWood, Northridge, Concord, Goshen and Plymouth remain alive in postseason play. The marquee local game has a surging NorthWood team headed to Middlebury to face NLC foe Northridge in a matchup of 7-3 teams. The Raiders beat the Panthers 31-21 in their NLC regular season meeting in Middlebury on Sept. 25. Since then, NorthWood has won its last four games.
