Goshen Redskins SportsGOSHEN – The Goshen Community Schools mascot steering committee has shed more light on the voting process that is currently in the graphics stage.

GHS/GMS students, staff, and coaches will vote electronically on Tuesday, Nov. 10. GHS alumni who live in the boundaries of Goshen’s school district may vote in person on Nov. 10 between the hours of 12-9 p.m. or Nov. 11 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Alumni who wish to vote will be asked to provide their graduation year and two types of identification, one of which must be a photo ID. There will be adult poll workers present during all voting blocks.

At the conclusion of the vote, if the margin of victory is not greater than two percent of the total votes cast, there will be a student-only revote between the top mascots. The reasoning behind this is that the committee wants to unify behind the new mascot, and a vote closer than two percent might not lead to that end.

Currently, Gladiators, Red Hawks, Spartans and Wolfpack logos are being professionally created based upon previously submitted ideas and graphics. There are five different organizations creating potential logos. Prior to the final vote, the mascot steering committee will select one logo rendering to appear on the ballot with each mascot name.
