NORTH WEBSTER — Friday, Nov. 6, is the end of the first trimester for Wawasee School District students and that means no school that day. Keep the kids entertained by bringing them to the library at 1 p.m. to play a rousing round of family bingo.

The whole family will have fun playing with lots of chances to win. Everyone goes home with a prize. Our bingo is always a popular event. Come, play, and have fun celebrating a trimester of hard work.

Celebrate peace of mind, body, and spirit at guided meditation 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4. Pirkko Miller, R.N. teaches the techniques of meditation the first Wednesday each month. She guides you through the process of achieving the mental, physical, and spiritual benefits of meditation. The class is open to all adults free of charge, but pre-registration is required.

The next day at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, learn how to create your own original greeting cards at the Make and Take Card Class. Instructor Hope Beezley will show how to use various methods and materials to make creative cards you will be proud to send. The class costs $7 and includes all supplies. Advance registration is needed, so sign up at the circulation desk or call (574) 834-7122.

If you haven’t stopped into our Local History and Genealogy Center, you will be surprised at our growing collection. Over 160 books and research materials have been added over the last three months, donated by individuals and other sources. While much of the research material covers the history and genealogy of Indiana, a significant amount focuses on southern states and is helpful to those researching their southern roots. Stop in and browse our expanded collection as well as our historic photo gallery. Local History and Genealogy Center Director Beth Smith and staff will be glad to assist you in your research or find books for your enjoyment.

Mark your calendars for the upcoming Military Program Series in November at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 12 and 19. Veteran Jim Smith will tell his story as an activated Army Reservist called up to serve in Kuwait and Iraq on Nov. 12. Then on Nov. 19 Marine Veteran John Gabbard will share his experiences serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. These informative programs are open to the public free of charge.
