Mrs. Shirley Jo Smith, 51, Rochester, passed away at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center of Fort Wayne.
On Sept. 19, 1964, Shirley was born in Rochester to Joseph R. and Sharon O’Connell Morris. She was a lifetime Rochester resident and graduated from Rochester High School with the class of 1983. Shirley and Jeffrey Smith were married on April 17, 1999 in Rochester.
As a cosmetologist, Shirley enjoyed visiting with her clients while cutting and curling. For several years Shirley worked at the US Post Office in Rochester. HGTV was her favorite place to watch the new trends in housing to see if they would Flip or Flop. Preparing meals for her family and couponing were two of her favorite pastimes.
Shirley is lovingly remembered by her husband: Jeff; her mother: Sharon Morris, Rochester; two daughters: Leah Renee Correll, Weifang, China; Myranda Koren Glant, Fort Wayne; son: Joseph Camron (husband Alex Burton) Correll, Manchester, England; two sisters: Kathy (Freddie) Dooley, Young America; Christine (Rob) Freet, Argos; several nieces and nephews; and two canine companions: Rebel, a teacup poodle; and Sophie, a black and white Chihuahua. Her father, Joseph R. Morris, preceded Shirley in death on March 9, 2012.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Good Family Home, and the funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. after visitation. Pastor Dan Honeycutt will officiate services, and interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
