NORTH WEBSTER — Get a jump on the Christmas shopping season and come to the Friends of the North Webster Community Public Library Book Sale next week Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 29, 30, and 31. The sale takes place in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall. Sale hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Thousands of good quality, gently used books, movies, CDs, games, and puzzles for all ages will be on sale at low bargain prices. You will find a variety of genres, subjects, and authors to please everyone on your Christmas gift-giving list. Plus all proceeds go to support the work of the library. It’s win-win for everyone. You get deep savings, your gift recipient gets good quality books, and the proceeds help the library better serve the community.
After the Book Sale at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, enjoy a free family movie in the library meeting room. Showing is Disney’s 2015 live-action take on a classic fairy tale about a mistreated step-daughter whose fairy godmother sends her to the royal ball in style. The movie is rated PG and runs 112 minutes long. There is free popcorn for everyone.
Other activities next week include Writer’s Corner at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, followed by R.E.A.D. Book Club at 5:30 p.m. The group will be discussing “The Lincoln Nobody Knew” by Richard N. Current. Also at 5:30 p.m., Lose It at The Library, the free weight loss support group, will meet for their weekly weigh-in and walk.
Mark your calendars for the upcoming Military Program Series in November that will take place 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 12, and 19. Special speakers will talk about their experiences during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. Come and learn about our nation’s military during this free program series open to the public.
The library has added a number of new audio books to our collection. You will find a variety of genres and popular authors. Audio books are great to listen to while traveling, working, exercising, and for those with vision and reading difficulties. Stop by and check them out.
