WINONA LAKE — Volunteers for the second annual Feed My Starving Children Warsaw MobilePack did not just hit the 1 million meal goal.

They exceeded it.

In four days, volunteers packed 4,932 boxes, totaling 1,065,312 meals, enough to feed 2,918 malnourished children for a year.

“The most important number, 2,918 children who are going to get to live for one more year because of what this community did,” local event coordinator Scott Sterk said.

After the announcement was made, Sterk invited volunteers to stick around and pray over a box of meals before shipping it and the other 4,931 boxes out.

“Stuff like this doesn’t just happen,” local event organizer Scott Sterk said. “It’s community coming together for a common cause and the blessings of a mighty, mighty God. That’s the only way something like this could come together and be successful.”

Plans are already in place for a 2016 Warsaw MobilePack.
