Makey Makey

Makey Makey is now a reoccurring program at the library. Kids in grades 3-5 will experiment with invention kits in new ways from 4-5 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month in the Cube.

Lego Club

The Nappanee Public Library Lego Club will meet for the first program of the 2015-16 school year from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15. Kids ages 5 and older are invited to take part in age-group-appropriate challenges and free building time the third Thursday of each month during the school year. This month’s building challenge is good eats.” No registration is required and parents are welcome to stay and participate. Children younger than 6 must be accompanied by an adult and all materials will be provided.

Movie In The Park

Nappanee’s Movies in the Park series continues with a showing of “Gremlins” at West Side Park at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. Bring your lawn chair or blanket, family and friends and watch this 1984 classic comedy/horror film, rated PG. Free refreshments will be available while supplies last. The program is sponsored by the Nappanee parks department, Friends of the Nappanee Public Library and Lake City Bank.

Book Club

Read along with Cover to Cover Book Club at the Nappanee Public Library from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, to discuss,Best to Laugh,” by Lorna Landvik. This fiction pick tells the story of a young woman named Candy Pekkala from the Twin Cities in the 1970’s. Follow her to Hollywood as she chases her dream of becoming a standup comedian. Call the library to reserve a copy. Cover to Cover Book Club meets the third Tuesday of each month.

Ceramics

Make a unique clay pendant to keep or give as a gift in a new class at the Nappanee Public Library. Two free classes will take place Saturday, October 17, in the makerspace with professional ceramicist, Sherrie Styx, instructing. Grades 1-5 will meet from 10-11 a.m. and ages 12 through adult will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Learn techniques for working with wet clay and adding attractive texture and pattern to create a necklace pendant. Artwork will be fired by the artist and returned to the library at a later date. Register by Saturday, Oct. 10.

Monster Goose Rhyme And Slime

Kids of all ages are invited to stop in and hear the spookier side of some classic stories and rhymes at the Nappanee Library from 6:30-730 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19. Participate in different activities that promise to gross you out, based on age group. The spook factor is low in this program. No registration is necessary.
