Charles Larry Thomas of Warsaw, passed away peacefully at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, from a lengthy illness at Center for Hospice Care of South Bend, at the age of 74.
He was born on March 1, 1941, in Portland, to Frank A. Thomas, Jr. and Betty Irene (Boxell) Thomas.
Charles was a graduate from Niles High School, the class of 1958. He was a resident of Kosciusko County, for four years where he was a member of the Church of Christ in Warsaw, Indiana.
During his long career in car sales, he was awarded “Salesman of the Year” at Gates Chevy World in South Bend. Charles was an avid fisherman, and loved anything sports related, but his favorite spectator sport was football. He especially loved the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts and his favorite baseball team was the Chicago Cubs.
Charles leaves behind three sons: Michael Thomas and fiancée Sally, Prospect, Conn.; Scott (wife Karen) Thomas, Pittsburg, Penn; and Troy Thomas, Braddock, Penn.; three daughters: Kim (husband Richard) McHale, Dunmore, Penn.; Lori (husband Michael) Budash, Whitefield, N.H.; and Chandra Thomas and fiancé Allen, Niles, Mich.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Dereck, Megan, Lucas, Jordan, Ka’lee, Phoenix, Skylar; two great-grandchildren: Jasper and Cassidy; one niece: Tanya (husband Jamie) Spade; and his only sister: Carol Thomas Hennessy, Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson Joshua Thomas, and his nephew Timothy Ulrich.
His funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. There will be visitation prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Burial will follow with a graveside service at the New Oak Hill Cemetery of Plymouth.
