Over 300 kids along with adults converged on Lucerne Park, Warsaw, for the annual Warsaw Parks Department Fall Family Fun Night Friday, Oct. 9.
Hundreds waited in line for the two-wagon hay ride, to play pumpkin bowling, make crafts, learn about bats, pet a skunk, pet a miniature pony, rabbit, and beef calves, listen to stories and a favorite, roasting marshmallows over a fire and making s’mores. Many took the opportunity to stand upon the hill at the park and fly the air planes they created.
The main sidewalk in the park was lined with 20 pumpkins in various designs ranging from carved bats, cats, castle, scary faces, a castle, ghosts and many other designs.
Those who were among the first 300 to attend received goody bags which included granola bars, fun size packet of M & Ms, small bag of Golf Fish, a rubber bracelet, map of the evening’s events, template to make a pumpkin sign, a magic pumpkin and a pumpkin sign craft kit.
It didn’t matter where you looked there were smiling faces of kids of all ages, even after being hesitant to pet a farm animal larger than they were.
Drawings were held at 8 p.m. to win each of the hand carved pumpkins.
The event was hosted by the Warsaw Parks & Recreation Department with sponsorship from KCH Lutheran Health Network, NIPSCO and Parkview Physicians Group.
