WARSAW – Harrison Elementary School won the Warsaw area soccer championship with a 2-1 victory over the Jefferson Spartans.

Harrison struck first when Brandon Lopez put the ball in the net on a pass from Sergio Rosales.

Rosales was credited with the second Harrison goal when his corner kick caromed off a Jefferson defender and into the goal. The lone Jefferson goal came on a penalty kick scored by Matt Hotchkin.

Ten schools in the Warsaw area comprise the elementary league. Jefferson was the undefeated winner of the southern division. Harrison had just one loss in the road to the top of the northern division. That defeat was a 3-1 inter-division loss to the Jefferson team on the opening day of the season.

The Harrison win was their second championship in two years. Both wins came at the expense of the Jefferson squad.
