Winona Turpin, 86, formerly of North Webster, passed away on Sept. 30, 2015, at the Oschner Medical Center in Slidell, La.

She was born on Dec. 28, 1928, in Evansville, to Leonard and Esther (Ershig) Dewig. On Feb. 29, 1966, she married Michael Turpin who preceded her in 2002. She moved to North Webster in 1975 coming from New York City. She served for 15 years as an officer in the US Navy, serving tours of duty in both Korea and Vietnam.

She was a member of the American Legion as well as the Retired Navy Nurse Association.

She is survived by her daughter: Mrs. Clarence V. (Michelle) Lambert Jr., Slidell, La.; granddaughter: Vivianna Antoinette-Marie Lambert; five step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Eastlund Funeral Home in Syracuse. Graveside services with military honors will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the St. Joseph cemetery in Evansville.
