SYRACUSE — The annual Syracuse Fall Harvest Festival is returning once again Oct. 10 to Lakeside Park, North Long Drive, Syracuse. As in years past, it is running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in conjunction with the last Syracuse Artisans and Farmers Market of the year.

Celebrate the harvest season while enjoying several fun activities for whole family, shopping or just listening to the music.

The Syracuse Artisans and Farmers Market will have approximately 40 vendors set up for the harvest festival. This number will include market regulars, plus a few new booths. Items will range from produce and bake goods to craft items, holiday decorations and more.

While exploring the market, enjoy three live performances. Heartland Country Cloggers will entertain from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; the group clogs to traditional and contemporary music. Backyard Brass will follow from 11 a.m. to noon. Guitar Banjo Band will conclude the schedule, performing from noon until 2 p.m.

Kids will also enjoy the performances of Pipsqueak & Clarabelle, who will roam and clown around the festival area.

Other activities geared toward children include the return of the popular petting zoo, games and pumpkin decorating, where there will be a variety of pumpkins to choose from — Grace Lutheran Church is helping with the pumpkin decorating this year.

Finally, there will be face painting available. Children will also want to check out the new pony rides.

The whole family will be interested taking a hayride, which is free and lasts approximately 10 minutes. The mini pig races are another popular activity that will be enjoyed by the whole family.

There will be plenty of food to choose from, including several options from local organizations. Grace Lutheran Church will be selling food, including brats and sauerkraut. For Spanish hotdogs, check out the Syracuse Lions Club’s booth. Vineyard Community Church will also be handing out free coffee.

Other food options include J & B Smoker, which is offering barbecue, macaroni and cheese, and other offerings; and the gourmet hotdog stand, a farmer’s market regular.

Sponsors for the event include KeyBank, NIPSCO, Lake City Bank, Parker Hannifin, POLYWOOD and Dynamic Spine and Rehabilitation Center. Several local entities are also involved in the event: Syracuse Parks & Recreation Department, Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce, Wawasee Kiwanis, Lakeland Youth Center, Grace Lutheran Church, Vineyard Community Church and Syracuse Lions Club.
