SYRACUSE – The cross country runners from Wawasee’s elementary schools competed in the third annual Wawasee Elementary Cross Country Championships Monday night at Wawasee Middle School.

There were 109 runners competing from Syracuse, North Webster and Milford schools that raced around the perimeter of Wawasee Middle School. Syracuse took the team title in both the boys and girls races.

On the guys side Ty Brooks, a fourth grader from Milford, edged out Jay Finlinson at the finish line for a winning time of 6:12, Finlinson also went 6:12 but was edged by a lean.

On the girls side, third grader Julie Mishler from Syracuse held on to defeat Jaclynn Worrell for a tight finish.
