CULVER – Warsaw remained competitive against some of the top teams in the region, as well as outside of the state, at Saturday’s Culver Academies Cross Country Invitational.

Highlighting the massive cross country extravaganza was the Warsaw boys winning the Boys Freshman/Sophomore title with 36 points, led by Zeb Hernandez’s 16:48 championship run. Lucas Howett (3, 17:18), Xavi Ramirez (4, 17:22) and Nathaniel Gottschalk (10, 17:51) all gave the Tigers top-10 quality in the race.

Warsaw’s boys were also 18th overall in the Boys Open race. The Warsaw girls team raced in the Girls Elite competition, placing eighth overall. Mia Beckham led the team with a ninth-place run of 18:58.

Wawasee ran in the Boys and Girls Open races. The Warrior boys were 19th and the girls 18th in the respective team standings.
