Notre Dame SportsNEW YORK – “I’m not feeling sorry for myself, man, I’m just sorry I can’t be back out there with you all.” Those were the words of an emotional Drue Tranquill after he accepted the game ball from Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly after suffering a season-ending injury in Saturday’s win over Georgia Tech.

Episode 3 of A SEASON WITH NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL premieres tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME and chronicles the impressive home victory as the Fighting Irish moved to 3-0 for the season.

The sophomore safety, who was making his first start of the season, was injured after a key pass defense in the end zone late in the second quarter. Tranquill, a graduate of Carroll High School in Fort Wayne, celebrated the pass breakup with a chest bump from Joe Schmidt but fell awkwardly and tore the ACL in his right knee.

Episode 3 also depicts an intense discussion between Fighting Irish quarterback DeShone Kizer and Notre Dame reporter Jac Collinsworth. The sophomore, who is starting in place of the injured Malik Zaire, reflected on his rapid and unlikely ascension to the starting position in a private and revealing moment between friends.

New episodes premiere every Tuesday on SHOWTIME.
