Jean Ann Artist
Jean Anne Artist, 80, of Culver, passed away on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015 at home.
Jean was born to Harley and Edith (Muffley) Brock on Jan. 9, 1953, in Bourbon. She was a 1953 graduate of Bourbon High School. On May 23, 1953, she was married to Herman D. Artist. He preceded her in death in 2014. Jean enjoyed sewing and embroidery and also liked butterflies.
She is survived by her son: Anthony (Karen) Artist; daughters: Denise A. Blankenship, Spartanburg, S.C.; Colleen A. Schumacher, Treasure Island, Fla.; Zinnia A. Artist, Lakeville; and Pamela J. McDonald, Lapaz; sisters: Bonnie Brown, South Bend; Thelma Scott, Warsaw; Emilie Huffman, Bremen; Karen Schmucker, Etna Green; and Judy (Sidney) Bobb, Plainfield; brothers: Rex Brock, Bourbon; and Max (Pamela) Brock, Rushville; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law: Trudy Brock.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Herman; sons: Daniel and Randy Artist; son-in-law: Mac McDonald; brothers: W. Arthur Brock; Argil (Kate) Brock; and Ward (Becky) Brock; and sisters: Eleanor (Bill) Caplinger; brothers-in-law: Elmer Brown; Charles Scott; Ronald Huffman; Harold Schmucker; and sister-in-law: Nancy Brock.
A memorial service will be held at the Odom Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, LaPorte. Memorials may be given to Walk to Defeat ALS, team name “Brock’s Rock”, on Saturday, Sept. 26, www.als.org, or to a charity of your choice.
