Mother Nature was the big winner on the local high school football scene Friday night.

The heavy thunderstorms that pounded the area forced the postponement of numerous games, including the Northridge at Warsaw, Triton at Culver and Wawasee at NorthWood contests.

The Wawasee at NorthWood game will resume at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Panthers lead the Warriors 3-0 with 4:20 to play in the first quarter after Jaron Mullet hit a 24-yard field goal.

The Triton at Culver game was postponed until 6 p.m. Saturday. Host Culver leads the conference contest 6-0 with 7:20 to play in the first quarter when the game resumes.

The Northridge at Warsaw game will resume at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Raiders lead the Tigers 7-0 at halftime. Dean Ridenour has the lone score in the game, a one-yard touchdown run at the 2:36 mark in the first quarter. The game will resume with the start of the third quarter.

One thing that the weather did not complete shut down was the announcement of the Warsaw Homecoming King and Queen, which was done at the beginning of halftime of the game. The King and Queen for this year are Mario Flores and Maria Duenas.
