Baker, JamesJames Ray Baker, 83, North Manchester, died at 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

He was born in Warsaw on Aug. 11, 1932, to Harry Raymond and Ruby Mildred (Schue) Baker. He was a farmer and retired from Fisher Body, Marion, in 1988, after 26 years. He then retired from Heckman Bindery, North Manchester, in 1998, after 10 years. He graduated from Laketon High School in 1950, and then attended Manchester College for two years before being drafted into the US Army. After returning from Korea, where he served as a medic, he took over the family farm. He was involved in the Boy Scouts of America and was a Manchester High School Band Booster for many years. James was a member of North Manchester Missionary Church.

James is survived by his sons: Kim (Laarni) Baker, Valparaiso; Tim (Annie) Baker, North Manchester; daughters: Mitzi (Jon) Parker, Commerce, Texas; and Tanya (Gary P.) Miller, Silver Lake, sister: Beverly Ann Spencer, Salinas, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 2-5 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at McKee Mortuary, with Pastor Dan Binkley officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
