Earl E. “Gene” Williams 89, Rochester, passed away at 6:10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
He was born on April 21, 1926, in Royal Center, the son of Lloyd and Glades Nellie (Cohagen) Williams. He served in the South Pacific during World War II with the U.S. Army. On June 17, 1951, at the Fulton United Methodist Church, Fulton, he married Charlene Iris Jackson and she survives.
Mr. Williams retired from Camcar Textron, now Acument Global Technologies in Rochester. He was a member of the Whippoorwill Community Church and enjoyed woodworking, stain glass and reading. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife: Charlene Williams, Rochester; sons: Rodney (Lisa) Williams, Stacy, Minn.; Randy (Denise) Williams, Rochester; Ryan (Amy) Williams, Leesburg; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother: Robert Williams; and sister: Mary Walters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Brian Sewell officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, and one hour prior to service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery, Fulton.
