Barbara Jane “Janie” Weber, 83, of South Whitley, died at 3:35 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake, where she was admitted in March.

She was born Aug. 13, 1932, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of John Marion and Barbara Philamina “Minnie” (Meier) Weber. At the age of five, her family moved to South Whitley. She graduated from South Whitley High School.

From 1964 until 1990 she was employed at Dana Weatherhead in Columbia City.

Her memberships included V.F.W. Post #2919 Auxiliary and Pioneer Club at Weatherhead. She enjoyed knitting and was an avid bowler of which she received many awards.

She is survived by a sister: Mary Louise (Don “Joe”) Stephens, South Whitley; and 13 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles Robert Weber; and John Marion Weber Jr.; and two nephews.

There will be no visitation or service.

Preferred memorials are to the final expense account payable to Smith and Sons Funeral Homes.

Arrangements are being completed by Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
