Warsaw Keeps Rolling Along

A stout defensive effort and a pair of timely goals lifted Warsaw to a 2-0 girls soccer victory Thursday against Concord.

Warsaw used a pair of goals in the first half and made the lead stand up in the annual grudge match between Northern Lakes Conference heavyweights. The Lady Tigers scored in the sixth minute when Anna Grill headed home an Alex Koontz corner kick for the 1-0 lead. Another conversion off a free kick gave Warsaw its second goal, this time in the 27th minute when Breck Jackson sent a free kick into the box, which Elizabeth Van Wormer buried for the goal.

Warsaw dug in from there, holding the previously unbeaten Lady Minutemen out of the net. Warsaw moves to 9-0 on the season and 5-0 in the Northern Lakes Conference. Concord slips to 4-1-1 overall and 3-1 in the NLC.

Chloe Snow made all seven stops to record her fourth shutout of the season.

The JV game went to the Lady Tigers, a 2-1 victor over Concord. Kennedy Patton scored the first goal of the game in the first minute, but Warsaw needed a goal from Janae Jimenez with 45 seconds left in the contest to pull the game out. Patton assisted on the game winner.

Warsaw will next play Monday at home against Fort Wayne Northrop.
