kosciusko countyWARSAW — One of the several petitions considered by the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Sept. 8, in Warsaw was from RSH & Associates. The petition, tabled until October, asked for a variance to permit two residences on one tract of ground with a new house being constructed 5 feet from adjacent properties.

The property is located on Brown Street at the intersection with Southshore Drive in Turkey Creek Township. Matt Sandy, assistant planning director for the county, noted the petitioner’s plans were changed just prior to the meeting and the BZA wanted time to consider the new plans. Also, there were some remonstrators against the petition and the new house would be essentially an L shaped building on an odd shaped lot size.

Other agenda items included:

• The BZA did grant a variance to RSH & Associates to permit construction of a basement addition for a residence addition 16 feet from the water’s edge on Southshore Drive, north of SR 13 in Turkey Creek Township.

• Didage Sales Company was granted a variance for a building addition on US 30 at the intersection with CR 325E in Wayne Township.

• Joseph and Denise Davis’ petition for a variance to allow a portable shed to remain 5 feet from an adjoining property line on EMS W23A Lane in Tippecanoe Township was tabled until the Oct. 13 meeting so more details on the plan can be obtained.

• Susanne Robinson was granted a variance to permit construction of an addition to a residence accessory building with living quarters on EMS B40 Lane at Sawmill Lake in Tippecanoe Township.

• Nancy Amor’s petition to allow a shed to remain as placed on Julia Street at the intersection with Verna in Seward Township was denied due to remonstrance and because the lot is already tightly spaced.

• Judson Andrew and Lydia Church were granted a variance to allow a residence addition on Eastshore Drive at Syracuse Lake in Turkey Creek Township.

• James and Barbara Reilly were granted a variance to allow a shed to remain as placed on Northcrest Lane at the intersection with Faye Lane in Seward Township, though it is unclear as to the exact location of the right of way.

• Mike Odell was granted a variance to permit construction of a residence addition on EMS D18A1 Lane at Dewart Lake in Turkey Creek Township.

• Mark and Donna Johnson were granted a variance to permit a residence addition on EMS B42 Lane in Tippecanoe Township.

• Jason and Mandy Troxel were granted a variance to construct a residence and carriage house and also a variance for the carriage house floor on Highland View Drive at Lake Wawasee in Turkey Creek Township.

• Katrina Bick was granted an exception to change and alter a non-conforming use by allowing construction of a garage and residence addition (porch) on a tract with two residences on Snyder Road in Harrison Township. She was also granted a variance to construct a garage on Snyder Road.

• Jay and Jill Howell were granted a variance to permit construction of a residence addition on Ogden Point Road at Lake Wawasee in Turkey Creek Township.

• Jim and Kay Ridenour were granted a variance to permit increasing the cubic content of a residence addition on Willis Park, east of Dixie Drive in Tippecanoe Township.
