footballA pair of former area high school football stars, Nathan Palmer and Braxston Cave, have found homes for now on practice squads for two NFL teams.

Palmer, a former star receiver at Elkhart Central, signed to the New England Patriots’ practice squad. He was just cut by the Denver Broncos on Sept. 1.

Palmer has spent time on practice squads with the Colts and Dolphins after he was released by the 49ers.

Cave, who starred at Penn High School and then at Notre Dame, was signed to the Detroit Lions’ practice squad on Sunday.

Cave, an offensive lineman,  was waived on Saturday as part of the Lions’ final roster cuts.
