SOUTH WHITLEY – The Whitko volleyball team enjoyed another victory Thursday evening.

The Lady ‘Cats downed North Miami 3-0 to move to 2-0 in Three Rivers Conference play. Haley Yohe led the home squad with 20 assists. Kaity Reed added nine kills and four blocks while Whitney Marsh tallied a pair of kills.

Whitko (3-1, 2-0) will play in Garrett at an invitational this Saturday.

Tennis Team Victorious

Whitko got its first win as a full team on the tennis courts Thursday evening. The Wildcats beat Triton 3-2 thanks to wins at No. 3 singles and on both doubles courts.

Alex Bechtold was finally eligible to compete and made the most of his first night on the courts winning 6-2, 6-0 over Keygan Mosier at three singles. No. 1 doubles team of Tim Gensch and Nic Rose continued their hot start to the year with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win over Chase Butler and Dalton Bailey. Austin Hollowell and Bill Stump won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles over Aaron Stichter and Brenden Damron.

Triton took victories at No.1 singles with Gavin Eads and at No. 2 singles with Mace Eads.

On the JV court it was Micah Cokl over Augusto Salgado 6-1, 6-0.

Whitko (2-4) will host Peru on Tuesday. Triton (3-6) will host Bethany Christian Saturday.

Golfers Fall To Canterbury

The girls golf team lost a 213-258 final at Fort Wayne Canterbury Thursday night.

Aurelia Slusher led the way for the Wildcats with a 55. Holly Hathaway added a 58.

Maria Teel of Canterbury was medalist with a 50.

Whitko plays at Southwood on Thursday.

Boys Soccer Team Defeated

The Whitko boys soccer team dropped an 8-3 final at Heritage.

The hosts built a 6-0 halftime lead before Whitko rallied in the second half.

Yetaek Im led the Wildcats with a pair of goals in his first game of the season.

Tyler Herendeen had a goal and Basie Trimmer two assists for Whitko. Goalie Devin Goggin had 22 saves for the Wildcats.

Whitko (2-4) plays at Mississinewa on Saturday at noon.
