Warsaw SportsCULVER – In a matchup of sectional rivals, Culver Academy held steady on its home course at Mystic Hills to best Warsaw, 183-201, Monday afternoon.

Lauren Read paced the Academy with a fine round of 37, and had the support of a 43 from Hannah Brumback, 49 from Amanda Kurteff and 54 from Natalie Peric. Ashley Dillard chipped in a 58 from the No. 5 spot.

Warsaw were again led by Madi Graham, who shot a 45. A surprise score of 46 from No. 5 Morgen Fuentes helped the visitors, the lowest nine-hole score of Fuentes’ career. Page Desenberg, Delaney Wihebrink and Madison Martz all turned in identical 55s to round out the Tiger scores.

The Academy JV defeated Warsaw 227-264. Madison Murphy was the low scorer for the home golfers with a 45. Warsaw had Madelyn Ray turn in a 54, Izzy Ray a 62, Miriam Hagg a 72 and Shelby Paseka a 76.

Warsaw moves to 5-3 overall and will return to Marshall County Tuesday for a Northern Lakes Conference tussle with heavyweights NorthWood and Plymouth at Plymouth Country Club.
