NOTRE DAME — The Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival is thrilled to announce an extension to their new comedy “William Shakespeare’s Long Lost First Play.” Produced in association with Shakespeare Napa Valley and written by visiting artists Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor, this “laugh-out-loud comedy mash-up” will now continue through Sunday, Sept. 6 at Notre Dame’s DeBartolo Performing Arts Center.

Fast-paced hijinks ensue as three gifted comedians discover what appears to be Shakespeare’s first manuscript, a masterwork “written in all six of Shakespeare’s hands,” containing warring wizards, and all the Bard’s (and some of Disney’s) best dramatic devices. The actors throw themselves into a fast, funny and frenzied festival of physical finesse, witty wordplay and plentiful punning. They “speed through the talky bits” and parody Shakespeare’s greatest hits along with plenteous pop-culture references. See it at Notre Dame before the world premier at Washington DC’s Folger Shakespeare Library.

Hailed by audiences as “pure delight” and “90 minutes of comedy gold,” William Shakespeare’s Long Lost First Play is this summer’s “must-see performance.”
