Sarah N. Shafer, 78, of rural Wabash, died at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor East in Wabash. She was born Feb. 27, 1937, in Patterson, Ga. to R.L. and Kate (Davis) Walker.

Sarah was a 1954 graduate of Peru High School. She married Donald L. Shafer in Peru, on June 26, 1955. She retired from Hooks Drug Store in Wabash, after 27 years.

She is survived by her husband: Donald L. Shafer, Wabash; five children: Kathy Meints, Wabash; Kris (John) Stebbins, Carmel; Randy (Laurie) Shafer, Wabash; Steve (Donna) Shafer, Cropwell, Ala.; and Tim (Tammy) Shafer, Wabash; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister: Mary Trook, Peru; and her brother: Clyde Walker, Jacksonville, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents and son: Donald Shafer Jr.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash, with Brad Eckerly officiating. Friends may call 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at the funeral home.
