Warsaw SportsTennis Wins Second Straight

Another competitive road outing Wednesday to open the boys tennis season had the Warsaw Tigers hold off host Huntington North, 3-2.

Both doubles courts were key for the Tigers, where at No. 1 Colton Lind and Chris Herendeen knocked off Dane Ehrenman and Brent Kreiger 6-4, 6-2, and at No. 2, Hudson Snyder and Andrew Gauger defeated Garrett Smith and Clark Kitchen love and love.

At three singles, Ryan Wettschurack claimed the lone solo court tally with a 6-4, 6-2 win against Matt Karst.

The hosts took No. 1 and No. 2 singles with the work output of Nick May and Auden Eckert. May took down Justin Stout one and three while Eckert held off David Homme 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

The Tiger JV squad had no trouble with Huntington, winning all nine courts.

Warsaw will open its home schedule Thursday with perennial power Penn visiting for a 4:30 p.m. first serve.

Golfers Make Strides At Huntington

The final score wasn’t a winner, 193-185, in favor of host Huntington North at Norwood Golf Course Wednesday, but Warsaw made several positive moves in the loss.

Madi Graham posted a nine-hole personal best score of 38 to lead the Lady Tigers and Page Desenberg cracked the 50 barrier for the first time this season, shooting 49. Madelyn Ray also had a personal best round of 52. Morgen Fuentes and Delaney Wihebrink each finished with 54.

The JV lost to Huntington North 234-222. Madison Martz shot a 54, followed by Izzy Ray at 58, Miriam Hagg at 67 and Shelby Paseka at 77.

Warsaw, now 1-1 in dual matches, will visit Wabash Thursday for a triangle with Tippecanoe Valley Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Honeywell Golf Course.
