Jordan SchaferJordan Anthony Shafer 18, Rochester, passed away at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, south of Mentone, from injuries sustained in motor vehicle accident.

He was born on Feb. 16, 1997, in Rochester. Jordan was the son of Shanan and Julie Shafer, Rochester, and Nichole (Griffin) Shafer, Walkerton.

Jordan was a 2015 graduate of Rochester High School where he had participated in football, track and field and wrestling. He was a Wrestling State Finalist in the heavyweight division finishing eighth in the state and accumulating 99 wins in his high school career. He was currently attending Ivy Tech Community College with plans to graduate next year with an associate degree and transfer to Purdue University to major in criminal justice. His goal was to become an Indiana State Trooper. For the past two years he had been working at Kroger’s. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, video games and spending time with his family and friends. Always someone to help others, he recently became a regular blood donor.

Survivors include his parents: Shanan and Julie Shafer, Rochester; Nichole Shafer, Walkerton; siblings: Rhiley Shafer, Rochester; Paige Shafer, Rochester; Makenzie Shafer, Walkerton; Kayleigh Williams, Rochester; Marcus (companion Elysia Volk) Williams, Akron; sister/niece: Olivia Neumann, Rochester; grandparents: Susan Shafer, Plymouth; John and Christine Griffin, Walkerton; Steve and Tina Shafer, Mich.; Howie Hart, Rochester; great-grandparents: Charles and Jennifer Calhoun, Argos; girlfriend: Zoe Setzer, Rochester; several aunts; uncles; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Sandy (Calhoun) Hart; Kenneth and Betty Kaminski; Kay Creviston; and nephew: Jude Williams-O’Neill.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at Faith Outreach Center, Rochester. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, and one hour prior to service at the church on Monday. Burial will follow in the Athens Cemetery, Athens.
