GOSHEN – An incredible run for the Goshen girls soccer team in 2014 has stretched into a 2015 preseason accolade for one of its star players.

Senior forward Jelitza Palomino has been chosen as one of 175 girls to land on the annual High School All-American Game Watch List. Palomino, who helped Goshen to the IHSAA Semi-state semi-finals for the first time in school history, is among 11 players from the state of Indiana, four of which are from the area.

Palomino is the all-time leading goal scorer in Goshen history with 55 goals and netted 17 last year in the historic run by the program.

Joining Palomino on the list from the area are the South Bend St. Joseph duo of goalkeeper Catherine Edmonds and midfielder Morgan Scott along with Penn midfielder Kam Solomon. Amber Hoot, a midfielder from Fort Wayne Carroll, also made the list. The Chargers knocked Goshen out of the state tournament at the semi-state by a 1-0 result.

The third annual High School All-American Game will be played on December 5, 2015, at Cardinal Gibbons High, in Raleigh, NC. The players nominated represent their high school teams during the fall season and are players that have played at least two years of high school soccer. The game is being held the same weekend and in the same location as the women’s NCAA Division I College Cup.

Players were chosen based on their career accomplishments at the high school level. The watch list is a list of players under consideration to be selected for the game. Forty players will be selected to participate in the game no later than October 30, 2015. More information on the All-American Game can be found at http://www.highschoolsoccerallamerican.com.
