INDIANAPOLIS — A new Hoosier State train began service at 6 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, between Indianapolis and Chicago.

The Indiana Department of Transportation signed a long-term passenger rail agreement with Amtrak, Iowa Pacific Holdings and on-line communities for the Hoosier State line, which will operate four days a week.

The four days weekly Hoosier State will combine with the three days weekly Amtrak Cardinal, providing daily train service between the two cities. There will also be new amenities offered to travelers, including food service, Wi-Fi and dome-car seating.

Tickets for the train are available at Amtrak.com, by calling (800) USA-RAIL or at train stations. Hoosier State adult fares start at $24 each way.
