AKRON — In April, 2015, Tippecanoe Valley High School submitted a request to the Indiana Department of Education to review its 2014 graduation rate that was reported by the IDOE at 77 percent. The IDOE completed the review of the documentation provided by TVHS and found that sufficient evidence was provided to make the requested changes to the 2014 cohort. The changes have been made and TVHS’s graduation rate is now shown as 85 percent. This is the school’s highest graduation rate since 2006, when it was 84 percent.

TVHS has put into place new procedures to ensure that grade level student cohorts and other important student data are collected and utilized accurately.

Staff members responsible for completing the appeal process were TVHS Principal Dr. Mike Bendicsen, school counselor, Stephanie Anglin and instructional coach, Kristen Horrell. If not for their efforts, the school’s 2014 graduation rate would still be listed as 77 percent, rather than the revised graduation rate of 85 percent.
